As the festive season approached and many of our clients had their content needs fulfilled, we took the opportunity to focus on a personal creative project in Cork. Collaborating with Robin, a talented local model, we explored a blend of portrait photography and video production. Robin’s unique aesthetic was the perfect match for some ideas we had been eager to bring to life.
Emphasising Creative Freedom
The project emphasised creative freedom, allowing us to experiment with various looks and styles. While the shoot didn’t follow a strict plan in terms of styling, the goal was clear: to produce a diverse range of content that could be shared across platforms, showcasing the dynamic possibilities of portrait photography and video production. Robin’s professionalism and versatility made the session seamless, and her enthusiasm brought an incredible energy to the project.
Focusing on Video Portraiture
The primary focus was on video portraiture. Drawing inspiration from talented videographers such as Mabo, we prioritized capturing cinematic sequences with a creative edge. Each scene was shot twice—once in a 16:9 landscape ratio and then in a vertical 9:16 format—ensuring flexibility for various platforms, including Instagram reels. While the original plan included posting a vertical video, the landscape version’s composition and flow proved so captivating that we decided to stick with it.
Capturing Stunning Still Portraits
In addition to video, we dedicated time to capturing stunning still portraits. The combination of these mediums showcased Robin’s charisma and highlighted the artistry of both portrait photography and videography.
This creative endeavour reinforced our passion for pushing boundaries within portrait photography in Cork. We’re excited to share more behind-the-scenes insights on this project soon, including how we approached both the photography and videography elements.
